So a few weeks ago I was over at the food blog winosandfoodies when I came across this blogging event.
A Taste of Yellow, a blogging event supporting LiveSTRONG day.

What is LiveSTRONG day, I hear you ask?
LIVESTRONG Day is the Lance Armstrong Foundation's (LAF) grassroots advocacy initiative to unify people affected by cancer and to raise awareness about cancer survivorship issues on a national level and in local communities across the country.  LIVESTRONG Day 2007 will occur on Wednesday, May 16.

So how does this bring us to A Taste of Yellow?
Well, Barbara at winosandfoodies (who herself is battling cancer) wanted to do something to raise the awareness of cancer throughout the world. Barbara, being a food blogger herself, knew that food blogs from all over the world get read by people also from all over the world. So by starting a food blogging event linked to LiveSTRONG day, what better way to get the message across the world? (This event has been authorised by the Lance Armstrong Foundation).

And what does A Taste Of Yellow entail?
Simple, all you food bloggers just need to do what you do best. Bake! To be more specific, make something that features a yellow food. And then blog about it, mentioning LiveSTRONG Day. How simple is that?
So, if your wanting to participate, head over to winosandfoodies for more instructions and getta baking.

Anyways, back to my participation. I had been sitting on the idea for a while, when yesterday afternoon I plonked myself down at the computer to check my emails before doing some baking. And what do you know? I've got an email from LiveJournal informing me that Barbara has left a message on my food blog. Asking me to participate. Well, a personal invitation? That was enough to put my thinking into action and start baking yellow.

So I bring you my Itsy, Bitsy, Teeny, Weeny Yellow Passionfruit Cupcakes (you're singing along, aren't you?)

So basically, they are mini passionfruit cupcakes with passionfruit buttercream icing. Devine

And yes, they do taste as good as the look! (If not, better)

Check out that fluffy texture.................

Whats even cooler, is that all of the ingredients were Yellow or White. Yellow butter, yellow eggs, yellow passionfruit! So I truly feel like I got into the Taste of Yellow experience.

Heres the recipe:
makes 24 mini cupcakes

90g butter, softened
90g caster sugar
2 eggs
1 1/2 cup flour
1 1/2 tsp baking powder
6 Tbsp passionfruit pulp

Preheat oven to 180C (350F). Cream butter & sugar until light and fluffy. Add eggs, one at a time, beating well after each addition. Sift in dry ingredients. Fold through with passionfruit pulp. Line mini muffin tray with cupcake papers. Spoon mix into cases (about 1 tsp each). Bake for 15 minutes. When cool, ice.
For icing, mix 30g softened butter, 4 Tbsp passionfrui pulp and 2 cup icing sugar together with an electric beater. Add warm water to achieve desired consistency.

I really encourage all you food bloggers to participate in this worthwhile event to raise cancer awareness.

And for anyone wanting to make a donation to LiveSTRONG, please click here.

Happy baking (with yellow ingredients) everyone :)

Re: yum!
Why thank you. Just a quick question, what does shibby mean-its sounds very positive-but has got my brain pondering.
